It seems very odd for a 17 year old like me that has never actually has a cigarette or consumed real alcohol besides some sips from my parents.
A lot of my friends get drunk and stuff but I never seem to get interested.
I feel odd when I drank my dad's beer and never wanted to try again.

At some campaign about travelling to Ireland, I got a free bottle of Baileys whiskys because they thought I was over 20.
It was a small bottle, but when I went home and opened it, it looked like Cafe Au Late, and I love coffee so I consumed it in one shot without knowing that it was alcohol.
I felt dreary after the next couple of hours.
It was the feeling that Eric Clapton dicribed in his autobiography; Stoned.
I reached my computer and put on some Cream songs and felt like I was stoned.
It felt great but I also felt sad at the same time.
What a weird experience.
But Baileys tasted very milky and tasty not powerful.

Is it odd for me that I don't drink or smoke at my age?
was this a sign or something?

but i'm not going to try it anyway

I have friends who don't drink/smoke, and i'm your age. it's not out of the ordinary. it's just a personal choice. if you're curious, try stuff. we're young, after all, and you'll only get roped into it at uni.

i guess when i was 17 a lot of my friends drank, as did i, but some people i knew just never did...

I'm into excessive drinking, but I think it's good to know what it feels like to be drunk. You know, knowing what it's all about! So I suggest you get piss drunk at least once in your life.

EDIT: Dammit! I meant I'm NOT into excessive drinking.

i've done neither, and i'm not going to drink until i'm 21.

there...should...be a group for this!

edit: and like silentassasin says below me, it isnt (and shouldnt be) an "expected" part of life to smoke/drink.

No it's not odd at all.

I am going to be turning 21 and I haven't had any alcohol except like.. a tenth of a cup of vodka because I was extremely bored.

and I haven't smoked since I was in 6th grade.

You are not expected to be drinking or smoking....

Wow, you are weak.

By the way, if you've never smoked, how do you know what "stoned" feels like? Goddamnit, you are so stupid.

Yeah that's my major concern that I might get wasted every friday night when I go abroad to England to study at a University.
I don't want my money sucked away like that.

But it might be fun and besides I might not be able to join up with my friends without a bit of liquor.

It's a personal choice. I don't drink, but I smoke cigarettes daily and i'll have some reefer every now and then. Don't let anyone pressure you into doing anything you don't want to do, if you eventually want to try it; do it by your own will.

Your mistake is thinking that Bailey's is a whiskey, when it isn't.

Not drinking or smoking means you get a kudos; and that you didn't have anything to prove and didn't think you had to rebel against your parents...

I haven't touched either, and don't plan to...

I haven't smoked, and I don't wanna. It's stupid.

But at least try some drinks, you don't even have to get totally wasted. Just try a sip here and there, and at least when you're old enough/want to go out drinking, you may know what you like.

*ahem*
in your title it should be "drank" not "drunk" drunk is an adjective while drank is a past tense verb

but anyway; do what you want, you only live once
#34
What happened is you had a small drink of baileys, and because you're a lightweight you got a bit drunk. Drink gets you drunk, weed gets you stoned. There's a difference.

A pound? Really, that's cheap.

Drugs I have to stay away from them...
#36
I've drank since 15 but I only had my first cigarette when I was 17.

If you're curious, do it. If not then don't.

You don't need either to enjoy life.

Mate, thats silly talk.

Try some weed. Now THAT you need to enjoy life.

why have i never gotten high/never plan on it?

mainly because i dont ever feel the need to escape reality. also, if you feel pressured to use drugs to get away from stress/pain/reality, there are always much better ways of dealing with those things. take yoga, exercise, or religion/meditation as examples.

It's not really "uncommon" or what to say. It's the same for me, never drank, or started smoking. Smoking is also something I feel I'll never start with, perhaps a drink or two if Im at a party or something similar, which to me, is a quite healthy view on the smoking/drinking issue.

So you drank a little bit of Baileys which is like 19% alcohol and you felt stoned?

PUSSY

THIS.

Also, I believe Bailey's is only 17%.

But my question is if you drank that, why would you feel stoned?
And how would you know what feeling stoned is if you've never smoked?

Not really odd. One of my best friends never touched a drop of alcohol till he was 18 (which is a very strange thing where I'm from) and he was fine. He drinks now though.
