I'm stuck and can't find new music to learn.
I'm open to any genre but it has to be semi-difficult stuff. I would love some good jazz fusion or chicken picking stuff.
Right now I've been learning some of the tunes from Yngwie's Rising Force album and have already learned Black Star. Something of similar difficulty would be nice but no Neo-classical shred plz.
No Van Halen or Racer X that's stuff I work on all the time.

(o)(o)

EDIT:

I have to add some stuff to this thread .
I'm mainly looking for stuff to use in my stage act.
I have to do alot of long entertaining solos with the drummer when I play live and I have learned and created some fun and pretty hard stuff to play in these situations.
Some that I do are:
Buckethead - Hog Bitch Stomp (the chicken picking solo if you don't know what I'm talking about)
Yakety Sax ( benny hill running music)
Paul Gilbert style string skipping.
Jason Becker Go Off canon arpergios
Zack Kim Super mario bros 8 finger tapping.
and the 8 finger tapping version of this: https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1045083
Plus alot of songs that I jam on with the drummer.
You get the idea.
I want something entertaining and also technicaly challening for technique improvment.

Even though everybody found my act entertaining for a pretty good while.
It became old and people are complaining about it.

you can always try some victor wooten influenced slapping...
http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=8vdJvHE8qxA

I actualy do some of that too. I was very buckethead influenced for a pretty long period of time so I learned slapping, chicken picking and started to develop 8 finger tapping.

The problem is that I don't know any good slapping pieces to play.
Do share some good slapping solos or riffs that I could learn.

EDIT: I love that video

if you don't already, learn stuff by ear.

Omg I'm loving that Arsis tapping thingy.
Gonna definatly give it ago. Thanks dude.
That's exactly the kind of stuff I'm asking for.
I would prefer something not neo-classical though

it's a sick song, hard as hell too.

good luck figuring it out
there's a gp tab for it but the intro is totally wrong and it's in the wrong tuning so i had to change it. D tuning for the song

That's you in the video ?
Damnit dude, I would love a tab for that intro.
I prefer to use other peoples transcriptions because then I get to play it the way that is not neceseraly comfortable for me. That way I can get used to different patterns and fingerings.

If you don't have one. I'll just do it myself though.

Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits is a good one,
Or do some of the Grade 6/7 Rock School pieces
Check out my band Spin-Offs
Comfort and Biscuits and Pineapple Juice now on my profile.
Any feedback appreciated

haha, no that's not me. That's ryan knight, he wrote it. You can search the tab (it's either gp or power) and it's good most of the way, but the intro is definately wrong and some of the other taping parts. I get what you're saying though.

Only learned the part that Paul played on YRO so far, I have the whole transcription though, it's gonna be a tough one.

Anyone here learned/attempted to learn the whole piece ?

for fusion, check out the Dixie Dregs, Steve Morse Band, Steve Morse, Shawn Lane, Guthrie Govan, Mahavishnu Orchestra, and John McLaughlin. Theres also a new band called Hectic Watermelon that are good.

chicken pickin': Albert Lee, Brad Paisley

i've always found pop to be harder to play than metal... especially shred metal... it's just really fast tremolo picking and the occasional palm mute... and the only chords you have to worry about are power chords...

Mahavishnu Orchestra.

This, they're also very good for training with irregular time signatures.

Try anything on "Birds of Fire".

It got erased from my head and I didn't even know that I heard SMB until now.
Thanks dude.

I'm loving Simple Simon. So many great licks and real nice riffing.

look into his work with the Dixie Dregs, man.

for country fusion, listen to the song Pride O the Farm.

or for SMB (steve morse band) listen to Runaway Train for country/bluegrass fusion.

also from that album is Collateral Damage, a sextuplet tapping monster intro lol.

i forgot to mention John McLaughlin, he fusiony too. Also Shawn Lane
