If you already have a proper guitar amp, then you can just run a bass through that if you're only larking about. Which means you won't have to bother with some starter pack sheizeoid, but can get something like a Cort or a Squier Vintage Modified...

No,No,No never run a bass guitar through a electric guitar amp.

If its something that you want to try get the bass. I however never tried that bass, but it looks like a good deal for a beginner .

EDIT: I checked the guitar and it has active electronics,and has both jazz and precision bass pick ups, the amp is also 40 watts so its great for practice at home.
