So, I accidentally won an RR24 on eBay for $700 (dude lives near me so its a pickup), the same price/cheaper than an RR3. Recently it's been leaning toward the RR24.

The Pros of the RR24 are an EMG 81, OFR, ebony fingerboard, set neck, whislt the con is no neck pickup (which I'm hoping won't cost much too install)

Pros of the RR3: SD JB/Jazz, awesome finish (Eerie Dess Swirl), fast neck, and a small heel. The con is 22 frets, which I need the 24.

So, which would be a better deal?

Wow. That's honestly a very hard decision. $700? Very nice catch. But no neck pickup... That's the biggest con in my opinion. I can deal with 22 frets, but no neck pickup? It's up to you though. Do you use the 24th or 23rd fret that often that you're willing to sacrifice a neck pickup?

Well, a lot of stuff I play would prefer a 24th fret instead of a bent 22nd.

Ugh.

I know what you mean. I went through this same dilemma a year ago when I was planning on buying my Rhoads. When you play, what do you use more? A neck pickup or the 24th and 23rd frets? Ask this to yourself even when concerning songs you cover.
