D :----5-----------|----3-----------|----1-----------|----------------|
A :--5-------------|--3-------------|--1-------------|----------------|
E :3---------------|3---------------|3---------------|----------------|

What's the best way to play this?

The opening bar fits perfectly into a power chord position.
The second bar seems a natural fit for a bar across the three, or using the first finger on A, second finger on E and third finger on D.
The third bar I'm thinking pinkie on the E, first and second fingers on D and A.

It just didn't seem so natural. Wondering if anyone has any better hints?

On the last 311, I would bar the 1's with my index and play the 3 with my ring.

truth. or even skip the bar and fret them with your index and middle. but barring is much easier.

I can't imagine anything worse than shagging to Mark Knopfler.

Maybe shagging Mark Knopfler, but that's about it.

Come to think of it, I would barre the 3 lowest strings with my index and put my ring on the G on the low E.
