I would like to get a boost pedal to just push my AC30 just a little bit more. Id like it simple and to not take away from my original tone, and add just a little more break up.

any suggestions?

BBE Boosta Grande. Clean boost, true bypass, doesn't color your tone at all.

i know theres lots... im trying to narrow my selection down... as i dont have time to go test hundreds, and also its hard to test things when stores want you to order stuff instead of having it right there. so just looking for some suggestions so i can keep my open. BBE boosta grande has been mentioned a few times, but its hideous, almost enough to make me not want it but i guess i can try it anyways since sound quality is obviously more important.

*takes offense*

It is most certainly NOT hideous...

But then again I covered the bull graphic up with a piece of duct tape and wrote Ego Boost on it

And that is why I asked for your budget so we can narrow them down. And save us from giving you a list of hundreds..

Just Jesse, mate

How much are you willing to spend? you could also look into the Xotic BB and AB (I think that's what it is) preamp boxes; they're really nice, really transparent overdrives.

EDIT: IP beat me to the budget question (as usual)

im not to concerned about budget. its all in the sound... which i dont want to loose any of my original setup

gretsch falcon, ac30

im a bit of a purist and dont like effects, but i do love the sound of an overdriven tube amp.

although i wouldnt mind saving some money

Boosta Grande
Xotic BB Preamp or AC Preamp (forget exactly what the other is called, but they're amazing OD pedals)
Maxon OD909 or Maxon OD-808
Ibanez TS-8/9
Fulltone Fulldrive/Fulldrive MOSFET
Keeley Java Boost

(if some of the names are wrong I apologize; I'm sick and kinda out of it)

I think Catalinbread makes a really, really nice one but I honestly think I'm mistaken. However I'm GASing for their V8 Fuzz, or a Frantone Creampuff.

But those are all my personal favorites based on sound. ANd I'm so freaking jealous of the White Falcon.

If it goes missing in the next few days, I swear to God it wasn't me.

<_<
>_>

*plots*

EDIT: Or what IP said. He's probably more accurate than I am.

^All of these ones:

Maxon OD909 or Maxon OD-808
Ibanez TS-8/9
Fulltone Fulldrive/Fulldrive MOSFET

Will change his fundamental tone. They'll add clipping (not just gain) and/or the frequency response.
Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is up to him.

Hideous? It's a standard Hammond 1590BB aluminum case, with a blue square on it? There's not enough on it to even be hideous.

Besides, when did a pedal's aesthetics come into play? And no one in the audience will be able to see you pedals, anyway.

Anyway, other options would include an MXR Microamp. You can also buy an EQ pedal and just boost all frequencies equally.

haha, sorry Jesse its actually the black falcon... seen a little less and its almost like the white falcons evil sister. shes beautiful none the less... i dont know what i would do without her.

BTW, a perfect pair up for an AC30 is a Dallas Rangemaster (One of its copies, I guess. They don't make the originals anymore...).

So...That leaves you with something like the Analogman Beano Boost. First Rangemaster clone I can think of.

Brian May of Queen used these early in his career, before he changed it out with a different germanium powered treble booster built by Pete Cornish.

I've only seen the raw/blue one.

You could always just order it off the net...
It's your best option, most local shops don't carry the good stuff.

I have an AC30 and I have the answer for you.

This little trick was told to me on another forum and I am so glad. You want to boost your AC30? Simple, get yourself an EQ pedal, I use the BOSS GE-7.

An EQ pedal to boost your amp? Yup. On the BOSS you just raise the level slider to max, overdrive your amp a bit, and then stomp on the pedal. WOW!!!! From a nice VOX grumble to Hendrix level distortion. I could not believe what I was hearing. My VOX was sounding like ten Marshall stacks! An EQ pedal does this. Something about boosting the impedence on the preamp tubes or something. Best thing about this trick is you are not changing your VOX tone. The overdrive you are getting is from the amp, not an artificial overdrive/distortion from a pedal.

Get an EQ pedal. Serves two purposes:
1. shape your sound
2. get you insane overdrive/distortion

CE, that sounds pretty sweet. gonna try that ASAP

Let us know how it works for you. If it ain't getting you Marshall overdrive, I'll help you out. Believe me, this EQ trick works. An incredible overdrive/distortion. Surprisingly, an EQ pedal can do that for you. The owner's manual doesn't tell you that. I guess BOSS wants you to spend more money and buy one of their distortion pedals. No need...just use the GE-7 EQ pedal.
