If you could make a band out of only dead people, and another with only living people

Just curious. If you had to make a band composed entirely of dead musicians, and then another composed entirely of musicians that are still alive, who would you pick? You can choose up to two people for each band position.

Here are my picks:

BAND MADE OF DEAD MUSICIANS:
Vocalist - Layne Staley or Kurt Cobain
Lead Guitar - Jimi Hendrix or Stevie Ray Vaughan
Rhythm Guitar - Stevie Ray Vaughan or Duane Allman
Bass - Jaco Pastorius or Cliff Burton
Drums - Keith Moon or John Bonham

BAND MADE OF LIVING MUSICIANS:
Vocalist - Eddie Vedder or Chris Cornell
Lead Guitar - B . B. King or Eric Clapton
Rhythm Guitar - Buckethead or Antoine Dufour
Bass - Paul McCartney or Jeff Ament
Drums - Danny Carey or Dave Grohl

EDIT: My band picks do not include a keyboardist. If I had to, however, I'd pick Glenn Gould for the dead band and Peter Schickele (aka P. D. Q. Bach) for the living band.

John Lennon-Rhythm
Freddie Mercury- Vocals
Jimi Hendrix- Lead
Keith Richards- Bass (Joke courtesy of: Kensai)
Keith Moon-Drums
They credited us with the birth of that sort of heavy metal thing. Well, if that's the case, there should be an immediate abortion.

I was actually thinking -

Where would one put Richey James Edwards (the guitarist for the Manic Street Preachers)? He disappeared in February 1995 and hasn't been heard from since, although his car was found near a bridge often used as a suicide destination, and he was declared legally dead in November 2008.

Interesting questions...

I was considering Mozart on keys, but his style would clash with all the others (all my other picks were born in the 20th century, he lived and died in the 18th century). So I went with Gould, who was the best 20th century pianist I could think of off the top of my head. I'd also want Robert Frost to contribute lyrics to the dead band.

the deads
vocalist - joey ramone
guitar - jimi hendrix
bass guitar - john entwistle
keyboards - johann sebastian bach
drums - keith moon

the livings
vocals - maynard james keenan
guitar - justin broadrick
bass - al cisneros
drums - dave grohl
keyboards - rick wakeman (not sure if i want him though)

and to anyone who laughs, i am very serious about bach, i would want him on a pipe organ kicking ass, could you imagine john entwistle playing bass while bach is playing a pipe organ??? then have joey ramone come in and sing for every other song or so? while jimi and keith are together making it the most soulful band ever?????????????????

He wasn't very good at guitar anyway. In the early Manic days he couldn't even play guitar, on stage he would mime it and sing instead.

Why have you put 'Axl Rose' as a position and 'vocals' as a musician?
#37
Freddy Mercury
Randy Rhoads
Hendrix
Cliff Burton
John Bonham

David Lee Roth
Jimmy Page
John Frusciante
Flea
Neil Peart

Should be obvious which band is which. Hendrix and Randy would alternate rhythm and lead in their songs.

It's obvioiusly a Sonic Youth-inspired experimental band. A guy who has legally changed his name to 'Vocals' (no last name) playing an instrument consisting of a resonant stem of a rose rubbing over a metal axle.
