Can you dive to the body with a LFR? I have heard it can break because it is made of a really cheap metal. I use a LFR on a Schecter with DR strings, every time I dive about half way to the body and come back up it sounds like the strings are buckling or something.

Yes you can dive to the body with an LFR if it is set up correctly, however with my guitatr i had to rout a load of extra wood from the tremolo cavity to get it to do so.

Remember that it will wear out the tremolo quite quickly if you do it a lot.

The buckling sound you are hearing is most likely the springs catching on something.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

first of all it depends on what LFR. what some people don't understand is the ALL FR's are licensed. when you hear OFR it just means Original Design.

anyways that noise you hear is normal. it's the springs you hear. if it's a good quality floyd, then it should all be good. in fact if you divebomb like crazy to your bridges full reach you'll probably end up breaking the bar before you ever break teh bridge i know i have

yeah i was drunk and i was doing these crazy whammy dives ala herman li/kerry king/steve vai.

needless to say, i pulled a pinch harmonic and pulled my guitar up like Herman in the Fire and Flames Music video and SNAP. that was really interesting.

Because if I dive and my Floyd is too crappy then I may need a new bridge. If I ask and get an answer then I know if it will break.

It should be fine. Just make sure it's set up properly.

Then drink some booze, spray 80s hairspray around your room, turn up the mids, gain everything and enjoy your time machine device.
