Okay, so me and some friends are planning to play at a local venue sometime soon (the brewery, look it up if you must) and we have a basic set-list down. Do you think it will fly and/or what changes should be considered?

-Like Suicide- Seether

-Faith- Limp Bizkit

-Gone Forever- Three Days Grace

-Bat Country- Avenged Sevenfold

-Scotty Doesn't know- Lustra (just a kick ass song for fun)

-Tears Don't Fall- Bullets for my Valentine

We can add more songs if need to and we have a drummer, singer, 2 guitarists, and a bassist.

Also we are working on writing some original material, but not too sure about it. Would it be okay to add one or two of them into the list or would that just throw it off alittle bit?

-Thanx

It would probably be a little weird to play faith..Good thing you didn't open with it though, I don't think a metalhead wants to listen to George Michael covers

before you play a gig, maybe you shuold come up with at least one original song.
not nessisary
but yeah. helps

Limp Bizkit, Seether, Avenged Sevenfold, and Bullet For My Valentine? No, it's a horrible set.

I think you should write at least 2-3 original songs and then add a few covers instead of doing just covers. It also depends on how much time you have on the stage.

EDIT: You should ignore the people above who are just slagging off your choice of bands, if you like them and you think your audience will as well then who gives a fu ck what anyone else thinks.

Vagina's tend to be not all that great looking most of the time. It's all... flappy. Looks sloppy.

I'd have to say guy junk wins but not by much. It's like winning a beauty contest against Steve Buscemi.

ok, so it seems limp bizkit is being hated here. So lets say i remove it from the setlist, anyone?

Ignore the elitists. You shouldn't cater your setlist around these guys, but what you expect will be recieved well at your gig.

Then you're still left with generic material.

The answer for what your asking for is an opinion. So I'm going to say imo it sucks badly, then again im more into rock music. I guess if thats your audience then go for it

No. Limp Bizkit is fail.

Some of the other bands on that list are not my cuppa tea, but they are fairly popular among a certain crowd. But Limp Bizkit is just a no-no.

If it's a pub like environment which I'm going to assume it is! I'd try to steer away from the metal-core & go with more pub-friendly music like Skynyd, AC/DC, Guns 'n' Roses, Nickelback & even some of the more mainstream well known Blink-182 & Greenday songs! but It's up to you dude! My old band used to play Breakstuff-Limp Bizkut as well as 2 sick, filthy original songs & we came close to being kicked out of our own gig cause our language was to bad!

-Driven Under- Seether

-My Way- Limp Bizkit

-Riot- Three Days Grace

-Bat Country- Avenged Sevenfold

-Its So Easy- Guns N' Roses (just a kick ass song for fun)

-All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me)- Bullets for my Valentine

I like that list better, but that's all based around personal opinion so do what you want.

Or, how about an 80's setlist!

Youth Gone Wild- Skid Row

Wild Side- Motley Crue

Rock of Ages- Def Leppard

Bad Medicine- Bon Jovi

Mamma I'm Coming Home- Ozzy

Originals are always good. Play some of those.

Also, here's a setlist of good songs:

The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows - Brand New
Banquet - Bloc Party
Paper Wings - Rise Against
American Girl - Tom Petty
Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie

That's just my personal taste, though. My advice is to try to find a balance between what you like to play and what your prospective audience would likely want to hear. And no Limp Bizkit.

I would do the cliche thing and just arrange the songs from heaviest to softest. That list seems like too much of a stop-start to me.
