Hey, i plan on upgrading my epiphone Les Paul pickups to a Seymour Duncan SH-12. [http://www.guitarcenter.com/Seymour-Duncan-SH-12- George-Lynch-Screamin-Demon-Humbucker-Pickup-30014 0-i1127422.gc] What do you think? Are they good? I dont mind minor cost increase as long as the quality is better.

Go on musicians friend, and go to the scratch and dent section, they have good amps for good prices

craigslist. THe other option is to ask around. A friend of my Dad's cut me a great deal.
I got a 100w Peavey head and a 4x12 Crate cab for 250. You can find /amazing/ deals.

Peavey heads and cabs are well spoken of in my circles. I'm a Fender guy, so I stuck with the best I could afford (my DeVille). One day, I will have a Blackface Twin, one day...

But for now, a lot of it depends on what type of music you play. My DeVille doesn't rock very hard to teh methul, but it does blues and classic rock (my kind of music) quite well. What do you want your amp to sound like?
