OK so a couple of years ago, my dad bought this mid keyboard thingy because he was going to take music up again.

He never got around to doing it and today I asked if I could have it and he said yes. He also bought a tascam US-122 midi thing which he also gave to me.

I have no idea how to use this stuff so I need help really badly.

At the moment, I have installed the driver software for the keyboard and the tascam. They both appear on a program like sonar LE as midi input and output devices.

The rig goes: Keyboard----->Computer
Tascam-------> Computer
Both via USB.

I can't get any sound from the keyboard.

My question is, what the hell am I supposed to do to use the keyboard like a piano?

I realise that I may not have provided enough information, but I don't really know what to provide.

Thanks.

You have to set the keyboard as input and the computer as output. Then you download some VST instruments that translate the MIDI-data sound.

What program should I use to download the VST instruments to?

Do I need a music workstation software thing?
