Alright guys, here's my simple question. What is your absolute favorite bass line and from which song? Feel free to provide a link.

N.I.B by Black Sabbath, that ones original Geezer, some of the stuff off Mob Rules is really good too. I don't actually know where the bass solo before ends and where N.I.B starts but its all good.

I love to play Jaco's Continuum. I just can't get that damn solo down, granted I haven't practiced it alot. But I love the first parts. So great.
Gear:1991 Fender MIJ Jazz/Squier VM Fretless Jazz -> Pitchblack -> Way Huge Green Rhino -> Boss OC-2 -> Boss DD-7 -> Markbass Tube 800 -> SWR 4x12.

Flat wounds. Flat wounds on everything. Everything is a little fatter when it's flatter.

Chameleon, even though it was played on a synth.

There are so many bass lines that I love, but right now I'm going with Walkabout by Red Hot Chili Peppers. People bash that album so fast and don't give it a good listen.

I'm definitely not a Fanboy, but I really like the bass line in it. But...its just my opinion...

Lets see, wow there's so many bass lines I really like, some complicated and some simple, I guess if it was narrowed down to like one riff that's played throughout the song, and not a whole six-minute song with different rythems and such, then hands down my favorite one thats stood with me for years is Untitled by Interpol, it's simple yet smooth and gives the song so much life.

Just heard this two weeks ago, but Serendipity by Tal Wilkenfeld is just plain amazing(ignore the dummy interviewing her http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wK03pYCLJho). So either that or Orion by Metallica. Two very different, but great, bass lines right there

Its hard to pick but I'd have to go back to Elvis Costello and the Attractions. I almost picked "Goon squad" or "I don't want to go to Chelsea" but for sheer fun--the best song ever written about uppers.

"Pump it Up" Elvis Costello.

It's hard to narrow it down to just one bassline. For me it would have to be 3 way tie between Rush - the enemy within, Atheist - and the psychic saw and Gordian knot - Rivers dancing.

That's funny, I guess every high school has a really fat chick named The Bass.

Money - Pink Floyd

The song is built around the bass line in 7/4 time. Easy enough for a beginner and plenty of groove for an old pro.

That song doesn't have much life in it at all, although, the bass line was decent. I wouldn't call it anything special.

Orion, is a good song, but the actual bassline doesn't drive me crazy, even when cliff burton gets out there with his solo, its rather dull, although well played. Good song, but not a top one.
