hendrix plays a fender strat right handed, flipped and reverse-stringed right? why dont right handed guitarists (who wanna be different presumably) get like a left handed guitar, flip it and reverse-string it :P

Coz it's a pain in the ass to reach up to the higher frets, that's why. Trust me, I tried
Ibanez RGA 8 (Dimarzio D Activator 8)->Rocktron Hush->Engl E530 preamp->Marshall 9200 poweramp->Marshall 4x12 closed back cab w/ G12t75's

Been done a million times, then the reversed headstock was made so people could actually get good fret access and still look cool.
There's no reason to do it, unless you're using a strat, then you get a different angle on the bridge pickup, but higher fret access is terrible.

The only reason would be if you're in a hendrix tribute band.

because thats just stealing an idea someone else came up with, which is unoriginal. The worst person to be as a musician is one that tries to be like somebody else

Fender makes one like that. Also, the bassist from Jimmy Eat World has a lefty neck on his bass because he plays in drop D a half step down (Drop C# I suppose). That was the first example I could think of, I'm sure there are more.

Some people do and don't sound a thing like Hendrix. It won't work. Don't do it.

He doesn't. He DID, but now he doesn't, seeing as he's kinda dead.

thats what i mean by reverse string, string it the other way. lol

after holding my strat the other way around, i realised it is a pain in the ass to reach the high frets.

because there's no point, unless you like to cripple your upper fret access.
seriously, the only reason he did that is because left handers are difficult to find and expensive

No, I meant like, he played it with the strings the "wrong" way round, with the high e closest to him.

Incorrect.
Just look at this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4-dQpKmH7Q
then look up the tablature for purple haze, compare, he's not playing with the strings the high e closest to him. otherwise he would be playing with his hand further away.

Joe Perry and Steve Miller do it. There's really no point to it.

But why? You'll only look like a twat and playing will be so much harder, changing pickups, rolling the volume knob, whammying with OR without the whammy bar (Bad joke :sad and your upper fret access will suck and most likely stringing it that way will knock your intonation off by alot.
