if i bought a really nice ibanez, prestige or jem etc. would it be simelar or better/worse in quality than a gibson of the same price?

From what I've tried, I'd say it would be nicer, although the JEM isn't Ibanez' best offering in terms of quality/price. Don't get me wrong, they're really nice guitars, just not the most budget efficient.

Also, there's a huge difference between your average Gibson (like a Les Paul Studio) and a Prestige Ibanez in, well, pretty much anything from neck profile and hardware, to materials and electronics.

ive been looking at two guitars mainly.

Ibanez DTT700 (dimarzio D-avticators 5pc wizard II neck etc.)

and

Gibson SG Special Faded

Epiphone Hummingbird
Epiphone Futura Custom Prophecy (Twin EMG)
Vox Valvetronix VT20+
Vox Wah
Boss MD-2
Danelectro Cool Cat Drive
Boss EQ

It'd probably be nicer than a Gibson in it's same price range, depending on what year and such. Although, there are a few guitars that I think are much higher quality than Gibson in that price range. Either way, they're completely different beast, so to each there own really.

The DTT isn't Prestige.


I'm not impressed by Gibson's Faded series, especially when it comes to quality control, so therefore I'd go for the Ibanez.

It's all a matter of personal preference, though.
