Hey guys, i have a quick question. starting this tuesday, i will start on 4 builds, i have 3 planned out, but im still deciding my last one. Anyways, my question is do you guys a telecaster would look good w/ a strat pickguard? the reason i am considering this is because I have a template for a strat style routing and imma have 3 other guitars to build so im not gonna be able to spend much time on making templates and what not. Anyways, what do you guys think?

after messing around i conjured up a tele with a strat pickguard using kisekae and ms paint, doens't look as weird as i thought, as long as you use a strat style bridge.
i used to be a mod, then i took an arrow in the knee.

I myself never liked pickgaurds. Especially on a classic like a Tele.

The pickguard is part of the classic tele look.

I was thinking of that for the telecaster i use right now. I made it the only thing it has that makes it look like a tele is the body, it has a gibson style neck, hhh pickup config, 1 vol, 1 tone, 3 mini switches (1 for each pickup), a TOM bridge, and a vintage style top mount whammy, it has strat contours and its rear routed

H/H
1 vol 1 tone
hardtail bridge
clear flamed maple finish
pickguard - whatever color looks good w/ the finish

That actually looks pretty cool. Well, given that you would trim the pickguard to fit the body.

Well, I mean, on the picture, you can tell that at the cutaway, it looks a little off. There isn't enough bare wood between the pickguard and the edge of the guitar. Of course, that's all IMO though dude.

it looks like a screwed up strat, but in a good way. Go for it. For some reason, the pic with the natural wood looks amazing, it looks better without the color.
#22
I like it, I think it'll look pretty sweet. And because you're building it, you won't have to worry about trying to figure out screwholes for the pickguard :P

yeah, imma go for it

I got 2 HUGE pieces of flamed/curly maple, enough for like 8 or 9 guitars, and a big piece of purpleheart. Im thinking a flamed/curly maple top and maybe a mahagony or purpleheart, or cherry or maybe a alder, idk yett

im gonna be making 2 explorers (1 guitar, 1 bass), this tele, and maybe a kelly
i might make a 5th one

anyways, waht should the back be?
