Alright, this feels like a dumb question, but what the hell. Whenever I replace strings, I try to do that wrapping thing around the tuning post the guitars come stock and/or from being set up with since I've heard it increases tuning stability, but it always comes out crappy. How do I do it?

You should do the locking thing where the push the string the other way and wrap it over other part. I do that on my cheap Ibanez and it holds tune a lot better.
