I know that Brand New and Circa Survive are kinda pop/punkish but I still love their live shows. Cursive is simply genius, "The Ugly Organ" is one of those rare albums I can't stop listening to even after years.

The Killers: Not only do I like them because the lead singer is Mormon, but they are quite fantastic. Lyrics are super personal (About relatives, girlfriends, personal beliefs/philosophies, etc), the music is well produced, and it has a certain feel that you can only get from some bands.
that is definatley true

1.THE KILLERS
2.HIM
3.RHCP

either your trolling or you just need to listen to some better music, i know i shouldn't judge people's musical taste but wow.

also, how do you know if nickelback can do any style? Ive never heard them do reggae or ska, and i think if they tried it it would sound godawful. If they did attempt it they would probably just upstrum the same 4 power chords that they use in about half of their songs.

1. Depeche Mode (electro/rock): Dark, but fun and complex pop music
2. Joy Division (post-punk): Minimalist rock, with roots in punk and the world's most haunting vocals.
3. My Bloody Valentine (shoegaze): Wall-of-sound noise done better than any other band.
4. The Smiths (indie/janglepop): The only band where they rhythm guitarist makes you sit back and say "wow..."
5. The Cure (genre? what's a genre?): You know. Dozens of simple guitar and bass parts layered up, complimented with synths and voice.

If you haven't at least heard of any one of these bands, you have no business using a guitar.
