At 30 seconds, there's me, at the far right, in the black coat, long hair, ANGRY face.

The amusing thing is, I was there, right near this star of the new UK popularity, and I hate the show.

I wasn't there to protest uni fees there either, I was there to get my train fair re-embursed, ended up spending too long there ¬_¬

Don't scrap uni fees and don't let everyone go. I'm sick of actual idiots with pathetic degrees thinking they're worth something when they're obviously not.

Well my friend (just off being on camera) knew the guy running the event, he'd worked with him before and he reckoned he could get our train fair re-emmbursed if we turned up, free travel like.

This.
When you pay for something, you're working towards a goal, so that will separate the idiots who are forced into school from those who actually want to achieve something.
Making university free will get people with over ambitious (and under achieving) parents into higher education with no willingness to do anything.
I'm waiting for the day that I leave compulsory education (this summer) so that there will be fewer people around me who don't actually want to be at school and go there only because their parents force them to and are, therefore, not motivated by anything.

Hehe, why thank you but that clip of me is me at my worst. . rainy day, anger. . etc etc

Anyway I've never actually watched more than bits of skins but I find it incredibly lame and stuff.

EDIT: on the topic of Uni fees, I don't want them to scrap 'em, I was at that rally but I want them to stay, money isn't just plucked from nowhere if it's all pre-paid and **** the economy will go down, I'd rather pay for uni than live in a pit even ****ter than the modern day UK.

That doesn't change
I'm doing chemistry, you'd expect a subject only for those genuinely interested, of the 90 or so on the course, I'd say 5 or 6 of us have an actual interest in Chemistry.

I do agree with the general point, fees shouldn't be scrapped, but not because they bottleneck the University population, since they don't, but because how do you think Uni's would succeed without the money? It may seem extortionate, but at the end of the day, a University is a business in essence. It has to 'stay afloat', and fees are part of it.

I agree that not everyone is suited to a university education, but I fail to see how maintaining and increasing fees is going to ensure that a) People who shouldn't be at university don't get in, and b) Everyone who is of a high enough intellectual standard to benefit from a university education can have one.

If anything, it means more upper-middle-class arses will be able to find ways to pay their way in, and less poorer people with a genuine passion and talent for their subject will be able to attend. If UK universities adopt the American model of running purely as a business then corruption is far more likely to benefit the institution than offering bursaries to poorer students, there's little incentive to take the best students, only the richest.

EDIT: This doesn't mean that I think university should be free, of course there has to be a price, but I don't think the institutions should be tied into a purely cash-based economy. There HAS to be an incentive to take students who care about their subjects, regardless of economic circumstances.

Student loans, my man.

Also, if everyone's let in, you'll undoubtedly get a load of free loading idiots who stay on at university in perpetuity because they'll get paid for. Fact is, people are lazy and cheap and will take advantage of everything they can.

If I had to live on my student loan alone, I'd have precisely £268 to last me for 9 weeks after paying rent. If the current economic situation has told us anything, it's that you can't just let people build up huge debts. The situation at the moment is just about tolerable, in that the debts get paid back eventually. If we removed the cap on tuition fees, the top universities could and would bump their fees up exponentially. No-one would go to university if it meant £60,000 or more worth of debt, it would just be ridiculous.

I paid for the train, we planned on gettin' our money back from the guy running that if we went to that for a small while so we could get a free trip to birmingham, my friend needed to pick some stuff up, anywho we ended up not getting it til the very end of that rally.
