A lot of my friends have been talking about it at school. I just got done watching it myself for the first time. While it was one of the most kick ass movies I've seen in a LONG time, the piss has been freaked out of me. And my mind has been f*cked to the max.

Anyone else love this movie?

i laughed at parts, especially when he told the teacher to shove it up hers haha. but yeah, that movie sure was a mind trip, but it was worth it, i like time travel

Same. Well, I would like to see ALL of it actually. I saw the last half of it last summer.

I dont see whats so trippy about it? Its not difficult to understand, its a pretty good movie, but its not as fantastic and as mind **** as everyone makes it out to be. It isnt hard to understand, and the acting was pretty average.

Didn't say it was hard to understand. It WAS straight forward. And yes, the acting was pretty dull. But the mind **** with Frank, Grandma Death, and the whole time travel was a pretty good mind ****.

this. i mean other than time travel, what is so complicated about the movie to where it blows people's minds. did harry potter 3 blow people's minds?

One of my favorite movies, without a doubt.
Definitely takes at least two watches to really get it.
Have you seen the Butterfly Effect (Twas a lot more popular than Donnie Darko)
If you liked Donnie Darko you'd probably like that too.

dude i freaking love that movie. the lack of enthusiasm added to the emptiness of the world. It would not feel as surreal with enthusiastic acting.

I will put it on my list of movies to watch. I was thinking about going out tomorrow and renting a load of movies so I will pick that one up.

I enjoyed it. I think its over-rated though. People act like its REALLY deep, and quite honestly, it isn't.

I enjoyed it, personally. Not the best movie in the world, but it's a good watch every now and then.

Hands down one of my favorite movies. Its kind of one of those movies where you have to want to watch it imo. If you think its gonna suck, then it will prolly suck for you. However, its easy to follow but the concept will put you in a mind f***. It will have you thinking hard at the end. Just remember the special effects are outdated.

This thread was made a few weeks ago, and the pit Generally agreed that the movie was one that made you think there was more to it than there really was. You're left looking to answers to questions that don't have answers, only theories.

I've only saw the Director's Cut, and I intend to make that the only version I ever see.

I listened to the commentary for it after watching it all the way through, and I just couldn't force myself to sit through the original now. After hearing how Richard Kelly didn't like a lot of the original cut, and how he had to make a lot of sacrifices to make sure it made, I just can't help but feel that the theatrical cut isn't the real movie, and wasn't exactly what Kelly wanted to see, which is basically true.

Anyway, I loved the movie. Definitely one of my favorites.

I saw it an extremely long time ago and it had no effect on me.
(Cause I was watching it with a girlfriend, so of course, nothing processed)
I'm gonna have to see it again.

How did you feel being denied these "hungry hungry hippos"?

yeah, Donnie Darko is one of my favourite films, pretty crazy as well.

The time-travel and all things on the superficial level of the story was straightforward. What beats me is what message, if any, they tried to convey through it.

Or was the entire intellectual challenge with the movie to understand that he traveled through time? Then meh, I've seen more intellectually challenging porn.

The bunny was cool, though.

I still ask how was that a mind ****? Grandma death is an old scientist who theorised about time travel and for a reason not explained new donnie had to go back in time and die to save the world. Frank was his sisters boyfriend, who for no apparent reason went back in time (not really ever fully explained so it cant really be a mind ****). The Time Travel isnt really a mind **** since the theory has been out there for so long in movies and such its not really deviated and the movie never brought anything new and interesting to the table. The whole message is that you cant change your destiny and really there wernt any huge shocks (maybe frank being the sisters boyfriend, but thats never really explained so I wouldnt count it as a mind ****). All in all another movie thats give way too much credit for very little

My ex-girlfriend was obsessed with it. It never seemed that interesting to me, but I would like to watch it at some point.
