I have been a fan of Fender guitars for about three years, but have never considered buying one ...

Anyway, I want to buy a Fender and I'm not sure what to buy ... Although, I will be changing a lot of the parts over time to suit personal preferances. I have about 400 pounds and I will most likely be going Mexico.

My current gear is a Peavey Windsor Half-Stack and a Dunlop Cry Baby Wah.

My influences are mainly punk/pop-punk based and I play in a punk band: HIM, Metallica, Sex Pistols, Ramones, Green Day, Blink 182, Misfits, Sum 41, The Offspring, The Clash etc.

So what do you guys think I should buy/look into?

By the looks of your influences, you need something with a humbucker, like the standard HSS strat

Finally your a person who bought the Windsor alf stack for the correct genres!

I would say get a Mexican fat strat. You could also look at the Squier Classic vibe and vintage modified series. They are said to be much better then MiM strats.
My Gear:
Epiphone Les Paul Standard
Peavey Vypyr 30
DW Collector's 3 pc drums
Mapex Black panther snare
Sabian AAX/Zildjian K cymbals.

Squier make very good basses, the classic vibe and vintage modified series from squiers seem to be getting very good reviews.

i have an old Squier strat and i love it, i have a stacked humbucker in the bridge, which sounds great, its quite versatile. Dont judge Squier because they make cheap guitars, some are actually really not that bad! (eg Jazzmaster)

At last, im not the only person that can see all your buying is a brand name, and a £5 guitar.

Probably, might br abit of giggery pokery but i cant see why not. If its not as simple as that then a guitar repairer should be able to do it no problem. The ESP george lynch has a covered h'bucker in his strat model

Get a Telecaster with 'buckers.

I'd say the Deluxe, but it might be out of your price range.

You will get better answers in EG, so I'll ask a mod to move it there.
