Those are the nominees for the General field of this year's Grammy Awards.
I know it may not seem important to most of us, us who love guitar music than pop or hip hop.
But, your thoughts on the nominees?

Obviously better than last year, when Amy Winehouse basically owned the whole show, but still kind of poor in my opinion.
Viva La Vida is a good song, but Viva La Vida itself as an album was mediocre compared to Coldplay's prior albums.
It was like a really graphically impressive video game with a boring gameplay.
I might vote Bleeding Love for the best record of the year over all of them, but it's tough competition with Please Read the Letter.

The Albums are okay, but some don't even deserve to be there.
Ne-yo had good songs in the album, but Lil Wayne's music is just painful to listen to because of the corny lyrics.
Viva La Vida was mediocre, and In rainbows, in my opinion, should be replaced by Oasis' new album.
I vote for Raising Sand by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss.

I'm not going to comment on the songs because none of them are remotely interesting.

And, by the lord, best new artist has the Jonas Brothers.
Adele is pretty much colorless compared to the past teen idols, so I choose Duffy.
I liked how she incorporated Soul and Rock to Pop.
Yeah, the Welsh does it right all the time.

Your thoughts?

That's so true, EVERYONE loves metallica

M.I.A. is a native here from Sri Lanka!

I think she's gonna win the record of the year award. And also the Oscar for her Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack.

EDIT - BTW there're some nominees who doesn't deserve some awards.

Katy Perry is the biggest example. Best female pop vocal performance??? yeah, thanks to auto-tune.

Do you honestly think Rise Against deserves a grammy?

I hope the Jonas Brothers, Radiohead, and Coldplay win. **** the rest

yes i said the Jonas Brothers, but only because their the only 'new artist' I actually heard of and they know how to play an instrument...

Other than that, the Grammys are a complete failure as usual...
I thought they had different categories for certain types of music too

Hey, its pop punk, but I still like it. Most people in America hate punk though.

Whoever paid the most will probably win.

I heard if a guy wins a grammy, they would have a ***** waiting in the hotel so bribes are possible...

Well I don't think being able to play an instrument makes you a better musician.
But can they sing? can they even make good music?
#29
My grannies are the same as every year. They're both cool.

And what about all this off-topic arguing about music? It had to be expected that popular artists win some awards. After all, many people like them.

^I don't get why the Jonas Brothers need 3 guitarists in the band, meanwhile they only play power chords.

I do not get it.

The Best New Artist category is horrible..but every one of them is going to fade out in no more than 5 years anyways, so I don't care. I guess I would go for Duffy, though

For album of the year, I would say Radiohead. Robert Plant is a legend, but I never liked his solo stuff

The Jonas Brother's DON'T play the guitar, that's the problem.
They sing, quite mediocrely, but just look at the concerts of "Burnin Up" on youtube.
You see the oldest one strumming the guitar but you don't hear nothing but the drums.
The backup band does 90% of the work.

I quite liked In Rainbows. I really hope Radiohead get some awards for the album. Also, the possibility of Radiohead performing 15 Step with the USC Marching Band is awesome.
I can honestly say I have really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like.
