I currently use Elixir strings which I have been happy with except for one thing. When I am in drop D tuning (which is most of the time) the low D string seems to have too much slack. Is that because im using an improper gauge for Drop D?

What is a good gauge for Drop D?

Thanks

There should be a tuning thread.. haha
Like a thread thats sticky'd telling us all what gauge strings will do for what tuning on what guitar..

I need to replace my strings now that i think about it..

I use 11's for all my tunings, i just feel comfortable. but they're great with Drop D

I use Ernie Ball Beefy Slinkies (.11-.54) for Eb standard and love em. Try em out, they should be perfect for you for lower tunings.
