I want to get a new pedal and i dont know what to buy. Budget: $70-80. I dont have a distortion or overdrive pedal and would be interested in one. I was also looking at a phase 90. I play classic rock type of music like led zeppelin and AC/DC, and 80's rock like Van Halen

for van halen a phase 90 would do you good, as an overdrive you could look at the bad monkey (budget) or the MI audio crunch box

use ebay/kijiji/craigs

anything boss from my experiences makes awesome distortion pedals n i went with the metal zone mt-2 and even though its intended for metal the EQ allows me to choose whatever sound i want, i turn the distortion way down adjust the EQ and im playing some ac dc tones so its nice imo

a good od/ distortion pedal in that range might be hard to find, i just bought an ibanez tube screamer for $120 and i personally love the classic rock tone i get from it, but if iwant it heavir i boost it with my crappy old Boss Ds-1, good set up, theres boss sd-1 i think thats really light distortion, almost like an od, then a fuzz pedal will give you a heavier tone, just go and try some pedals. if possible try a fulltone drive 2 mosfet.

^fun to mess around with, but to get a good whole lotta love tone (pickups on 10 on my epi LP) i turn the gain to to lowest possible, or a little above that - it has a lot of gain

its fun to mix dist and od though

well, quite frankly, i enjoy having it, especially since i can't play very loud anymore, but being a blues/classic rock/max gain: black sabbath, paranoid guy, I'm on the hunt for a new OD myself. I mainly use it on od mode, too. your best bet will be to go try it out, thats the only way you're gonna know if its perfect for you
