I found a good deal on 2 pedals, but I'm not sure which is the better choice. One is a Boss MT-2 Metal Zone and the other is a Digitech Death Metal. I'm leaning towards the Metal Zone, but I'd like some opinions.

this is absolutely, 100% correct.
For example, Dave Mustaine has a signature coffee mix.

i like the death metal, but if you dont like super-uber-loud-high-gain-thick-chunky-insanely too loud tone then go with the metal zone for sure! If you play cannibal corpse and stuff go with the death metal.

try to look for another amp instead of buying a pedal that is worse than your amp

What style music? Because if you're looking for a sound like Parkway Drive (Your Icon Thingy) then you would probably want a boss ml-2 metal core before the metalzone

i have a ranged music style, but my band plays a lot of avenged sevenfold style stuff

both of those pedals would sound worse than the amp distortion, keep saving for a new amp that has decent distortion on it. i wouldnt want you wasting money :p
periphery/bulb!

Ibanez RG7321 w/ D-sonic in bridge

Peavey 5150 mk ii & b52 4x12 cab

line 6 podxt for recording

Head and Cab for $130? You don't need a head and cabinet, you need a psychological examination.

Then just throw your amp and guitar out a three story building, then pick them up and attempt to play. You'll get the same effect as A7X's music
