I need a multi effect pedal in the class of the GT8. I am getting this for jamming, studio work, recording, a backup for live performances. So which one would you recommend? Line 6, Boss, Digitech, Zoom? Please specify the brand and model along with why and why not. I play thrash metal (Testament, Metallica). I also want a create a custom lead tone which I am far from finishing as I am a lead guitarist.

Randall RG50-TC, B-52 AT-112/212, Bugera 333XL...

A modeling pedal into your VS will not sound good.
I'm putting my GAS on hold
for a couple months in order to pimp my ride.

Don't judge me.

I'm planning on changing the amp as well, I just want to get the pedal choice set and then I will move to the amp. Thanks and keep'em coming.

Do it the other way round

In any case if you save and get a decent amp then you mau not even need such FX

This.

Also, for thrash, a Randall RG100ES will do you for cheap. So would a Crate GX130c and an Ampeg VH140c.
