I've been looking for ways to boost my guitar signal so it cuts through for solos and such. If I had a Amp with more channels, this would not be a problem at all, as I would much rather play through a guitar and amp alone, but having one pedal could not hurt.

I was looking at a few pedals, mostly OD's and EQ's.

Would the MXR 10-band EQ fit my needs more or would a Ibanez Tubescreamer be better?

Vox AD30VT. My budget is cut short, so I'll probably pick the other up some other time.
