I just finished painting the body and headstock today (glossy orange) , and now it's time to order the parts.

i've decided that i'm going to get this pickguard:
http://www.greasygroove.com/proddetail.php?prod=00250-PG-F-S-D-ST

but that's pretty much all i've decided on.

What color hardware should i get? Chrome or Black?

Sorry for no pics, I can't figure out how to reduce the file size enough to post. The best way I can describe it is:
This shade of orange: http://www.germes-online.com/direct/dbimage/50165774/Orange.jpg
with a coat of gloss over it.

With the wood grain is still visible through the paint.

I also belt sanded the sides so that instead of the smooth, rounded edges you normally find on strats, it has sharp, square edges.

Typically I would say chrome because I think black hardware looks cheap, but in your case I'll make an exception and say black. If you can, black chrome, because it looks cool.

seems to me like the oranges clash, but if youve tested it thats fine , umm i'd reocmmend black with orange, it'd look sweet

and add a really random wiring system

Yea, the two tones of orange aren't exact but I don't really mind too much. I think it'd look really distinctive and unique.

I think you should go with a different pickguard IMO as well.....

I think a cream pick guard on the orange would look great.

lol high five for similar tastes in pick guard!
i just completed the order and decided on a cream pick guard instead of the orange pick guard I originally wanted. I sent the shop an email and the guy wanted me to send him a tracing of my old pick guard as well as pay a $25 labor fee and then a $30 charge for the pick guard itself, as well as shipping and handling of course.

over $60 for a pick guard? Even though it's sick looking, there's no way i'm paying that much for a piece of plastic.

So cream pick guard w/ chrome hardware it is.

what type would you suggest?

If you want one of those pin-up ones, get one that's white or black.
