we all know new strings stretch and have to be retuned..but can you just yank upward on the tremolo to stretch them?

i never understood why everyone 'stretches' their strings.

I just put them on, tune them just once, and they hold perfect, with some very minor adjustments needed after a week or so.

I take it you don't have a floyd rose bridge.

I've seen videos where people just pull on the strings to get them stretched. Pull from the nut side so you don't damage it).
But i'm not on a floyd so i dont stretch my strings i just give them a play and just retune when needed so it's no biggie for me.

if i dont stretch my strings, they tend to keep going out of tune for a while whic is really annoying...

i read you can just stick yuor finger under at about the 12th fret and pull upwards about 3cm

try boiling them if youre using uncoated strings. boil water, put them in for about 2 minutes, take them out and let them air dry.

Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 112
etc.

I can't imagine anything worse than shagging to Mark Knopfler.

Maybe shagging Mark Knopfler, but that's about it.

tune to C, the pull the string up..i BET you are out of tune..
especially if they are new..i stretch mine for about 5 mins each.
just tune, pull string away from guitar at 12th fret...tune again..repeat

why would i want to tune to c ?

oh, you mean drop C tuning.

well i doubt i'd be out of tune seeing as i have to tune only once after my strings are on.
