I have a mag head and 410 half stack, which i am happy with as an amp, but over time i have started to crave a more bright tone (possibly more transparent).

The problem is if i want to upgrade my amp i will have to do it one piece at a time.

So which should i upgrade first cab or head? And what should i upgrade it to?

Oh and i am not certain of a price range as of yet, but keep in mind i want to upgrade my gear but not get into really high end levels.

First, why don't you try brighter strings?

lol, yeah i did think of that. although i would like to change my strings more often than i currently do, i would still like a clearer tone out of my amp.

I would suggest the head, as that has more to do with tone than the speakers. Mind you, try (don't buy) a different head first, your cab may just be crap.

I still stand by what I said about trying brighter strings. In the end, which would you prefer? Spending £300-£600 on a new head/cab, or £20 for a different set of strings?
