Ok. so ive been playing for about a year now and own 2 electrics and 1 acoustic. now here is my price list. it includes everything i can thing of for the guitar minus the finishing supplies. please tell me if i forgot any thing!

Item - price - store

Body Wood (ash or basswood) - $30 - woodcraft
Neck Wood (maple) - $20 - woodcraft
Pickup (GFS VEH) - $35 - guitarfetish
Truss Rod (double action) - $14 - Warmoth
Trem Cover - >$20 - ?
Pickgaurd (black SSS strat) - $5 - guitarfetish
Tuners - $? - ?
Floyd Rose (FR special) - $76 - guitar parts depot
Potentiometer (500k) - $3 - guitarfetish
Output Jack (w/ cover) - $5 - guitarfetish
Knobs (set of 3) - $4 - guitarfetish
Fret Wire - $? - ?
Inlay (board and side) - $20 - Allparts
Neckplate (chrome) - $7 - guitar center

thats my current partslist. if you can find anything missing or know where i can get something cheaper please let me know!

ps. pics will start when i get the body and neck wood!

So is it pretty much going to be an exact replica, or are there going to be some customizations thrown in?

of course!

i should be getting the wood this week. they didnt have 8/4 ash in-stock so theyre gona try and order it. if they cant im just gona get some basswood. it really doesnt matter to me. they were both about the same price and weight. once i paint it ill never know.

thats nice. ill look into the tuners

im kinda stuck on the fretwire though. i really like the 6130(its on my warlock) but ive never played it on a fender neck. although the neck is gona be modeled after my warlock neck so it SHOULD feel the same...

EDIT: i just looked and warmoth doesnt have those tuners you mentioned. can you provide a link to where you saw them?

f22master check out the Frankenstrat Lovers Group in my Sig. A few of us have made Frankenstrats and can help you. I made one and I've got a GFS VEH in the bridge and it's pretty good for $35. Mine's not an exact clone of Eddie's though but the stripes are pretty close.

Which ever way you go with color and pattern remember...

DO NOT PAINT THE NECK POCKET!

Seen too many people doing projects especially EVH striped guitars and they paint the neck pocket too. Place tape over it and leave it bare as it should be even the sides/walls.

Can't wait to see this. I'm hunting down parts to build another red/black/white one for my buddy...and I'm hopefully going to start building the black/white or yellow/black one for me soon. Good luck!

haha yeah. i know not to paint anything that is a tight fit. so no neck pocket or trem route or trem cavity(im using a rear trem cover) or anything else that requires a nice fit.

F22master great pictures, and lots of them! Be sure to keep it that way!

Regarding necks, be sure that each blank is 20 mm of thickness if you are going to add a fretboard, but if you want a one piece neck you shoud make the blank of 26mm. If you have the possibility of making 4 necks by cutting it in the half, take it to a lumberyard and have it cut for cheap, say 15 dollars. Youll save the extra blanks for later, instead of wasting them. I did that, and out of a blank of 56mm of thickness I got four neck blanks, 2 one piece, and 2 requiring an extra fretboard.

I dont know if you understand what I said before, but english is not my first language... Hop you understand...

Well

Good luck on the frankenstrats!

Frankies FTW

Yes do so... take advantage of your country... you are right.. Maple there is cheap compared to maple here. A neck blank of maple costs around 70 dolars. No maple grow on south america, so the import it. I said "Fúck" and bought local wood for mah necks, bought a blank for 4 necks for 13 dollars....

So yeah, play the safe way, always!

Cheers
