Shut up this was closed before. And again, why would Americans care about other countries? And this is coming from an American.

I'm joking. Most of Canada is border-line socialist, so Obama is their Messiah.

I supported a Third Term for Bush. Everyone called me racist for it too.

Obama is a right winger though, maybe not on american mainstream media but he certainly is nothing near socialist.

Funny, Since Canada is on the border-line of a socialist country where obama is the messiah...

I think Canada should now be called "Little America".

i'm aussie, and i've yet to come across another aussie who didnt think Bush was an idiot. Also, the support for Obama here was very widespread, i think a lot of people are relieved about his being elected

I'm Canadian.
And I'm very happy that Obama's in. I think honestly that Bush was just as much of a terrorist as the others. That's an incredibly strong term to use, but really...look at his track record. At home and abroad. Regardless, almost everyone I know (Canadian and American alike) hated Bush.

What I have to hope, though, is that people in America and worldwide see that if the change and hope he is putting forth are actually going to happen, then EVERYONE HAS TO DO IT. He's not a miracle worker, but he can do a lot of things to help the world become a better place, and America fit better within it than it does now. However, to do this, everyone has to learn how to change their own lives in some small ways...and if you Americans and all countries can do that, then huge things can happen. He's the face, heart and spirit that is able to rally people to do it. I sincerely hope they can.

Hopefully this gives you some insight on a Canadian's stance, threadstarter.

Oh, and all people calling Canada "Little America" - you're wrong. We've just got a puppet as our Prime Minister. And a Conservative government that can't do **** all. Doesn't mean we as a people are "Little Americans". Our government's just a ****-fest.
Oh no he just divided by zero again...*gets sucked into vortex*

obama would be center-right or moderate in most other countries other than america. coming off of 8 years of bush (similar to reagan, only stupider and he didnt have a thatcher) obama seems pretty friggin' awesome

edit: no elected politician in america is actually liberal, there are just varying degrees of conservatives. you cant get elected left of center here

Right..........

He's definitely not socialist. He's just fairly conservative, as opposed to incredibly conservative.

I'm glad he won I guess, if McCain won I'd have no respect for America at all, but I don't think he's the absolute best person for the job, and I really hate the way in America (although it's almost the same here as well) things like race, background, family, image and all that personal **** are what makes people choose a candidate, as opposed to policies.

The Obama thing here really took Australia by storm..
Pretty much everyone I knew hopped on the Obama bandwagon and supported him..
Obama's fine but I thought Mccain was pretty decent too and he could do an excellent job if elected president...

I see Obama and just another American puppet who isn't going to change many things (although it's funny/sad to see how much hope (haha, Obama's word) people have on a guy who voted in favor of the Patriot Act)

Socialism can be classified as Government interferrence and control over industry, after the bailout, Obama set CEO pay limits to $500,000. Tell me thats not socialism, and show that you're incapable of thinking, and reallize that government control of wealth distribution in any level for non-government employees is Socialism.
