i got this tab for a song. one part theres eighth notes with a 3 underneath so theres six eighth notes in that measure. what exactly does that mean. does the eighth notes still get the same timing as regular eighth notes? sorry its probally obvious. im that stupid lol

those are called triplets.

each 3 8th notes are played in the same time as 2 regular 8th notes would be played

if that makes sense?

not really, if anything wouldnt the notes be longer?

No, they'd be shorter. Go here and listen to the beginning of the song. The notes after the power chord that sounds like galloping are triplets.
