I need to know how to cut a hole for a humbucker in a strat precisely. Like lined up right and everything. oh, and how do I set it in? do I screw it to the pickguard? or set it on the body? And what should I use to cut the pickguard? (this one is rather minor)

why not just buy a new pickguard? It'd be easier, and if you wanted to go back, you could quite easily.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

well, do you have a router? and a drill? maybe an exacto knife?

BLACKEDIT: I can't find it, so I'll describe it.
you'll need to drill holes of the correct size in the pickguard in the place for the humbucker's mounting holes. I suggest placing the bucker then drawing the guidelines. use the exacto knife to cut a hole for the humbucker.

Or, easier still, get a singlecoil sized humbucker if you haven't bought yet.
