tl;dr - I need a metal guitar for under $700 with 24 frets, passive pickups, and a 25.5" scale length. I will block a licensed FR or an Edge III with a tremol-no.

I've got $600 USD lying around, and I was initially thinking of buying some pedals and other things (overdrive, delay, EQ, cables, strings, amp casters)., but then I realized that I already enough money for a decent guitar.

I play mostly metal, and my main guitar (LTD Alexi 600) has a double locking tremolo; I keep it in E standard to play with my band. I want another guitar to replace my starter Ibanez so that I can play in lower tunings without sounding awful.

If it has a trem, I will probably end up blocking it.

Here are some specs I would like:

Neck through or bolt on construction

24 frets

Preferably passive pickups - if I have money left, I can upgrade them.

25.5" scale length

I have been considering the following guitars:

Ibanez Xiphos
Ibanez RGT42DXWH
Ibanez RG350DX
Jackson Dinky MG
Jackson DK2

Any comments or suggestions?

Thank you for any help!

If I had the extra $300, I would be all over that. It's a beautiful guitar...

Get the RGT. I saw a new one for 400 at Sam Ash once. Well, actually I haggled them down. But if I can do it, you should be able to, also.
Peavey 5150, Squier, Ibanez RG2EX2, Yamaha F150, Ibanez RT150, MXR noisegate
Go with either of the ibanez's, they make great metal guitars or even rock for that matter I use mine for classic rock and hairmetal and it works really well.
Ibanez RG7321
Jackson Randy Rhoads V with Floyd Rose
Peavey Valveking 112
Digitech RP70 Guitar Processor
would it not just be easier to get a guitar with a tune-o-matic bridge? but i would recommend an LTD MH/M/H1000 or 500 and especially the H will take some brutal down tuning (A standard) plus i prefer the EMG tone but that is entirely my opinion

EDIT: i'm an Aussie so i have no idea how much these guitars cost in America but they come in around 1000 to 1500 AUD

I got a black Les Paul, and this Texan told me it wasn't as good as other color guitars becuse it was a 'nigger.'
