alright so i bought the electric guitar package I wanted. My amp has these settings:
volume gain volume (drive) treble middle bass


what around should i have these set at to just sound decent during normal indoor practice?

Keep treble, middle and bass all at 12-oclock, that's the amps "standard" setting. Over time you may want to change these.

For practice you'll generally want to keep it quieter than if you were playing a gig, so keep the volume relatively low, like at 3 or 4 out of 10.

The gain is how much distortion is in the sound, so adjust that as you see fit. Giving more gain usually will give you a volume boost as well, so to keep the same overall volume, as the gain goes up, you have to turn the volume down.
And no, Guitar Hero will not help. Even on expert. Really.
