can a on/off/on 6 lug mini switch be used as a pickup selector. I heve a HSH guitar. i want the mini switch to control the 2 humbuckers on and off. then i have 2 p/p pots 1 to turn on the single coil and 1 to coil tap the buckers. Which lugs would i connect the mini switch and the humbuckers. OR what would you do for the switching , i dont want to put in any more holes

this is the guitar i am building

Depends, what p'up combinations are you looking for?
Name the ones you'd most like to have and I'll see what I can do

i want:
N hum
B hum
Single by itself (i am thunking about 1 p/p to turn this on and off)
N hum/S
B hum/S
coil tap the buckers

JB and Jazz for the buckers and vintage 50's fender single

surely the eaiest solution would be to use a 5 way strat style switch and then a switch for coil splitting the humbuckers

He doesn't want to drill more holes.

You can do this-
Gibson style switch to select between the 'buckers (N / N+B / B)
Push/pull to add the middle p'up
Push/pull to split both of the 'buckers at once.

I'll do a wiring diagram in a sec.
You want master volume and tone right?

i only have two hole for knobs.... maybe a 5 way rotary and a concentric pot for the volume and tone. would that work?
#8
yeah i want a volume and tone.. i just might have to bore the hole for the gibson switch a little which wouldnt be a prob.
#9
You don't actually need a gibson switch, you can use an on/on/on mini switch.

how would i isolate the single coil if i want? i have a on/on/on and a on/off/on mini by the way
#11
Okay, you could use the on/off/on but then you won't be able to use both humbuckers at once.

Also, I'm assuming the HBs are 4 connector; do they have a shield or bare ground wire?

Do you know which are the positives and negatives?

I'll guess green and red are hot and white and black are ground.

I'll follow that. If you can, try and make sure those are the right colors.

push/pull volume knob for coil splitting, blend pot for the humbuckers, 3 way selector switch to switch between the the middle pickup and the blend pot?

Just saw your video on youtube, great song man. Love that tone. Sounds like a flanger was used correct? and what were your settings? Just curious sorry if I'm of no help to you in this thread

I don't think an on/off/on switch would work; I think you'd need an on/on/on.

Alrighty,

Switch 1 is a dpdt (push/pull) that splits both humbuckers (inner coils)

Switch 2 is an on/off/on (if yours has 6 poles just ignore the other 3 poles) that switches between neck hb/neither/bridge hb

Switch 3 is a dpdt (push/pull) that engages the single coil p'up in parallel with the humbuckers.

I'm assuming that you know to connect all the grounds.
