...is the silence that follows when you turn it off.

Even for someone like me, whose record collection consists of 60% metal, it just becomes too much after a few hours and my ears need a rest.

Anyone else feels this way?

Maybe I am getting too old or just losing my interest in this genre.

Needs moar doom metal.

What's that?

Or maybe I just need to reduce my daily consumption or listen at lower volume levels.

I find the font you type in excruciatingly pretentious, TS.

But, on topic, I disagree. I can listen to it for as long as I want, I only turn it off when spoken to or if I'm too annoyed to listen to it.

the best part of metal is that feeling it gives you compelling you to punch the crap out of something to the beat of the song. and headbanging is good neck and upper core exercise.

I see what you mean TS, I feel the same way. Love love love metal, but like to give my ears a rest too.

And to everyone who says that we're faggots for liking to turn it off, remember this: when you go deaf at 40, we'll still be rocking our ****ing brains out.

So there you go.

The genre, dumbass.

EDIT: All you people who don't know what Doom is should kill yourselves, as a whole Doom is definitely the best genre of metal.

The chick's face in that part is priceless.
It's like a mixture of acting afraid, disgust, and attempting to hold back laughter

The funny thing is, if a band released a video like that now, it'd be incredibly gay, but since it was the '80s, that video's just plain awesome.

I'm pretty sure listening to metal often enough makes you invincible to the onset of time. Silly mortal.

But seriously, the good thing about metal is, when you're tired of it you can just listen to a different kind of metal. You can go from br00tal to soft to ambeint, to technical to slayer to melodic, etc.
