which are better for teh metalz?

EMGs have a better "name" (u know they are advertised as THE metal pickups, I dont know why i have the idea that if it aint EMG it sucks, which is BS)

Blackouts apparently are even better as they have more gain and stuff

EMGs don't have a better name than Seymour Duncan.
Maybe for metal, but blackouts don't have more gain.
They have a more full middy tone, less sterile than emgs. It's all preference really.
Try out guitars with similar specs, or at least similar body/neck wood, one with EMGS and one with Blackouts and see which you like more.
I like blackouts more, but that's just opinion.

Ive tried both and i like the Blackouts. They're both good pickups, but i find the blackouts sound better.

The blackouts just give you similar output with a more passive tone
and Seymour Duncan has a bigger name than EMG, just not for metal, that might be shifting thogh,
you should also look at the EMG X's

I've got both brands in two seperate, identical guitars. The Blackouts have a bigger stronger mid range with a better crunch than EMG's. THe blackouts even seem to have a hair more output. My setup is the BH-1 set. There is a seperate bridge blackout now available which is the BH-2, stupid high output.

Don't forget the neck pickup! The neck Blackout has an alnico magnet, which equates to better cleans.

If I was buying active pickups tommorrow I'd be buying another set of Blackouts, without question.

Its all personal preference really, just try some guitars out with those pickups and see which one you like better.
