I've been writing a good amount of hard rock riffs, which is pretty much always what I've leaned towards and liked doing, but now I have a problem. I've recently taken a liking to the band Death, and now everything i play is 1,000,000 miles an hour and sounds ungodly evil. It's not really a bad thing, but it's derailing me from my original goal.

Should I stick with what comes or slam my head into the wall until it stops?

If you can really play 1,000,000 miles an hour, I'd say you have a new goal.

I didn't know the speed at which you play can be measured in miles per hour...

But seriously, just play whatever you feel comfortable playing. Can't you play just a little mixture of both?
All that was meant by 1,000,000 miles an hour is I'm hauling ass in my riffs when usually i don't. I'm not shredding sack but it's still pretty quick stuff.

How am I bragging?

"I'm basically playing at 1,000,000 miles an hour."
Don't try to pull that nonchalant sh*t in here.
