I bought that last semester and as a result, I now understand why that album is so highly praised and why The Band is seen as such a great band.

Neil Young - On the Beach
Great album.

I only listened to one album today, and that was Cry of Love - Brother. Cry of Love was a hard rock band in the 90s with Audley Freed on guitar.

After reading 156 pages of the Real Frank Zappa Book (which is a highly entertaining read) over the past few hours, I felt compelled to listen to Zappa's London Symphony Orchestra Vol. 1 and 2.

This past week, I've really only been listening to Roger Waters, for some reason.

Especially The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking.

It has its moments... as of the last time I listened, though, there weren't enough great moments, and if I want modern dissonant stuff, I'm going to end up playing something else.

I haven't listened to a lot of classic rock over the past few weeks... except perhaps "You Had it Coming" by Jeff Beck. (which isn't so CR, I guess, but it is a CR artist)

It's an interesting listen, but that's coming from someone who doesn't normally listen to orchestral stuff like that.

Live at Ronnie Scott? never heard, what year is it from?

but anyway me and my friend went to the record store and picked up "Extrapolation" by John McLaughlin and "Talkin Verve" by Astrud Gilberto (bossa nova). I dig both a lot. the bossa nova is absolute tranquility in its finest form.

Been obsessed with Satch's self-titled 'red album' for the last week or two. Absolutely brilliant and unlike anything else he's done - loads of bluesy jamming and some awesome drumming too. 'Slow Down Blues', 'Down,Down,Down' and 'Killer Bee Bop' are highlights.

^^The Final Cut sucks. Get over it.

Joe Walsh - Barnstorm (I believe this is no longer in production, but it's clearly his best solo album)
Joe Walsh - But Seriously Folks
Johnny Winter - Second Winter

Haha, this brought a huge grin to my face - it's possibly the most divisive album in history. I'm very interested in the war etc, so the lyrics maybe have a more personal effect on me than to most casual listeners. As a 'Pink Floyd' album, it's a travesty, but judged on it's own merits I think it's superb.
Then again, maybe it does suck and I just haven't realised it yet

I've been meaning to listen to more Joe Walsh stuff - though I must admit he's a little bit off his rocker these days: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpZl-1FVrzs&feature=related

Just finished that 'BBM' album and it's a bit dull - you'd think Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce and Gary Moore would make an amzing team, but it bored me senseless.

These days? Walsh has always been crazy, especially when he was a heavy drug and alcohol user. He's sobered up in recent years (good thing, too), but he's still nuts. Regardless, he can still play that rock and roll for ya.
