Hi, i recently bought a 5150 cab with sheffields, and i feel like their bass isn't heavy enough. I get a really clear lean tone and my clean tone is spot on, but the bass isn't really cut out for downtuned rythem work and i can seem to fix the problem with EQing.

so which speakers do you think have the best bass response?

How about something strange and uncommon? Get a set of bass speakers and put them in, I'd love to see what that does tonally.

Bass speakers work fine for guitar. Many of them come really close in freq range just go lower than a guitar speaker will.

They said the same about distortion in the 1950's. And I believe also solidbodied electrics in the 1940's. And they still say it about feedback.
