i have a peavey bandit 112 and whenever i go up to volume of 5 or so then i get horrible unwanted bass sound/squealing sound. how can i get rid of this?
p.s i do try to mute all my strings with my free hand.

Is your metal core in use? is it in use while the amp is on the drive channel? what's your eq like? Is the gain blasting?
I'm putting my GAS on hold
for a couple months in order to pimp my ride.

Don't judge me.

+1 Lots of treble and gain are a recipe for feedback.

its the same thing but worse when i use my metal core i keep my amp on the clean channel when i use it. without the metal core i have the gain on full and with the metal core i have it at about 2 o'clock. my eq on my pedal is low 12 o'clock, and high 3 o'clock. my amp by itself is low 5, mid 2.5, high 4.5.

turn the damn gain down.

Sh!t didn't even notice that, no wonder you're getting feedback.

The gain doesn't need to be on ten. All that does is muddy up your tone. It's a common and nooby misconception that you have to max out your gain to play t3h m3t@l.

WRONG. It ruins your dynamics, and if you're actually decent, you don't need the gain on 14.

tl;dr: turn the damn gain down, problem solved.
