Hai thar guise!

So I just got back from the coldest concert of the year, The Planet Smashers with the Creepshow opening, and I've gotta say...

MAH MIND HAS BEEN BLOOWWWWNN

and I'm sure that has nothing to do with my current inebriation.

But I digress. What a show. They aren't even my favorite bands, but the energy was absolutely mindblowing. They got the whole crowd on board with them and not one person in that hall was unhappy. Even the guy who broke his nose in the pit was partying like a drunken rapist at a republican convention.

What I'm looking for from you guys is : who knows other punk bands who are still around with positively brick-shitting stage presence and energy. Bonus cookies if they're coming to Montreal soon. Also, anything that sounds somewhat like the Creepshow would be appreciated. I've found new appreciation for psychobilly.

I was there, and I was very dissapointed in the planet smashers

They didn't play Hey hey, or Skate or Die....I don't think they played Super Orgy Porno Party either.

they played a bunch of their mediocre new stuff, and left out a few of their best songs.

Creepshow shouldn't played more stuff from their 1st album

and the 1st band made me want to punch babies...repetitively.

I also found both Creepshow, and The Planet Smashers stage presence to be typical mainstreem stage presence, with like ****ing 10 long bridges where they would talk over just the bass and drums.....I was dissapointed, I remember being told how ****ing amazing they were a few years ago when they came in..

My favourite pshycobilly band is from Montreal.

The Brains....The horrorpops sound pretty much exactly like the creepshow

P.S.
My band, SingleDigitIQ? is playing 2 shows in march

March 6th @ bar st-laurent (3$) - SingleDigitIQ? + other bands tba

March 13th @ L'hemisphere Gauche (5$) - SingleDigitIQ?, Bill Cosby Anarchist Society Of America, Broken Culture, Morphine FX, Chix N Dix

Propagandhi is playing Montreal soon for their record release party I believe. And they're from Canada. So yeah. Go see them live.

**** I thought they were serious when they said "one last song"

I haven't gone to a show with an encore in like 18 months...I didn't think they'd have one...Cause they really weren't that good anyways

They said "one last song," waited through five minutes of Keasby Nights chanting, and played FOUR encore songs, and then I

Meh...Mudhoney was like

9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 x better

but that's cause the only 2 bands that are still around that could probably play just as good of a show is LCB & WNH

and, of course SDIQ?

Dude

you like mudhoney, and you did not go to their show?

it was the most amazing experience in my life..except for MUSTANGZ day.

ahh dude, it was ****ing sick + i was really ****ing drunk & stoned...so that's like the icing on the cake.

The openers were awesome too.

Back in october i think, the pit was insane, I was impressed by the old dudes there.

Sucks that you didn't go...It was their first time in like 10 years...if i was you, I wouldn't expect to see them again any time soon.

They played at La Sala Rosa, and then right accross the street after their show was a black flag cover show and they were gonna go there...I really wanted to go there and talk to mark arm, but my brother was feeling sick...so if we would've gone we would've had to walk home...which wouldn't be fair to him.

Doubt they'll be coming again anytime soon.

If you like Flogging Molly, they're playing at Metropolis on Monday.

but yeah...seriously...come see my bands show march 6th or 13th...if you come on the 6th, you'll be meeting not just 1 ug p0nx, but 2!

and if you go to both shows, you'll see 8 different bands from the montreal area..you'll probably like a few of them, and all the bands we're playing with usually have a show every couple of weeks...so yeah...lots of shows!

Flogging Molly has been sold out for a week and a half. I might attempt to scalp but I've already seen them and I would have to borrow the cash from a friend because I just spent my last money on a pitcher and pool.

I'd been down to come seen SingleDigitIQ but I'm underage and I have no fake papers. Unless a member of the band could get me and my friends inside. I wonder where I could find one of them...

EDIT: I just noticed how I'm bitching about not being able to get into a bar after saying I just blew the last of my money at a bar. To clarify, I was at Duffy's in dorval. They don't card anyone .

The Subhumans put on a fantastic live show. Not only are they all still energetic and intense performers well into their 40s (no pun intended) but you haven't seen crowd involvement until you've been to a Subhumans show. Everyone has to scream every word of every song, it's a law. Plus when I saw them they ended their set with "No" and then "Religious Wars" and needless to say I jizzed... in... my pants...

I nearly took of my pants and threw them at them, they were so great, and in Germany noone seems to care about them.....Great Show.......as long as you haven´t seen them you haven´t seen anything.

Best show I've ever seen was The Ergs(played all of dork rock and upstairs/downstairs), Cheeky, Static Radio, and The Measure(SA), basically because The Ergs were so amazing. Second best has to be Don Giovanni Showcase I just went to. Go see any of those bands when they play Montreal.
I'm the same as I was when I was six years old

I don't really feel anything

I saw flogging molly a few years ago and it was one of the worst gigs I've ever been to. It was just... boring.

Bah, you're just one of those anti-irish british types
When I saw them in Montreal last year the whole hall was going insane.
The most boring shows I've been to are metal concerts, there's no brotherhood, no camaraderie...it's all about being br00tal and hardXcorez.

my favourite band is Stiff Little Fingers! I guess it was just a bad night, I was just really disappointed because I quite like some of their stuff but they looked like they didnt want to be there and there was a poor turnout.

Yeah I was just joking, I don't think we get too many racists in the punk forum.
As for the concert, sounds like it was just a bad night.

My scene fag best friend never went to any punk shows before he met me, and he told me the hardcore/metalcore scene is the same way. There's always somebody getting beat up for hardcore dancing the wrong way, having the wrong haircut, talking to the wrong girl, etc. I love taking people to punk shows when they're used to metal and hardcore, because they're always like "WHY ARE THESE PEOPLE SO NICE TO EACHOTHER?!"

It seems different with the metalcore scene around here. I mean I dislike metalcore and have only been to three or four shows because of friends, but nobody got beat up. They definitely aren't as welcoming as punks, but it wasn't that bad.

I was asking the same question when i made the metal/punk transition back when I was 14 or something...

At my first show, I was so surprised to see people picking fallen moshers off the floor so they didn't get trampled.

When some guy I've never met gave me a free demo CD, I tried to give it back because I didn't have any money and he's like "It's free, man" and I just stared in disbelief for a couple seconds before walking away.

Those were the days
