Vox is putting out a new head called The Night Train. Looks interesting and I am wondering can I rig my VOX AC30 CC2 as a cab?

I don't think it can be I could be wrong.
I never tried my VOX AC30 CC2 as a cab.

provided the speakers are the same ohm rating as the head it will work. you just have to disconnect the speakers from the combo, then get some speaker wire and a 1/4" mono jack and solder it up.
i used to be a mod, then i took an arrow in the knee.

Yeah, this is what I thought. I have yet to open up my new AC30, but I am told there is a 1/4" jack that unplugs the speakers. Would be cool if I can bypass the amp itself and just make use of the speakers with a VOX head that I buy.

ok why don't you sell your AC30 and just buy a cab, what's the point of having an AC30 if you only use the speakers??

Perhaps so he can use the AC30 later. I don't think anyone is going to give up their AC30 for a Vox Night train as a full time amp...

The Night Train (or the VOX AC4 which I am also interested in buying) is not an AC30 and won't sound like one. If you think every product that VOX puts out is just an AC30 with a different name, well, you should try some of their stuff.

AC4 and Night Train come as heads. Would be great if I can just use my AC30 12" speakers as a cab. That way I have my AC30 and its tones and I have an AC4 head and its tones coming through a pair of big, beautiful 12" speakers...which I already have!

Wow, I actually just did this with a Crate 2x12 combo I have. If you are still curious, let me know and I'll take some pictures. It's pretty simple, though.

Yes please! I had this crazy idea of changing the power switch to a DPDT switch which would open a speaker input jack when the amp was turned off. Overkill yes/no

yes, you just need to seperate the speakers from the amplifier and make a cable to use the speaker with.
