#1
a typewriter,
sending letters
by post,
addictions,
isolation,
or recreational freedom
would all just be
trying too hard.
trying too hard to write,
to be a writer.
how the best did it
years ago.

someday
a folder of many
poems will be found
on a laptop,
edited, published,
printed, and
sold posthumously.

they, the poems,
might be read
and emulation
will not be apparent.

not a recluse,
not a drunk,
not a misanthrope,
a spiritually liberated
hallucination, a bum, or
a tragedy.

won't even try.
only fame
dead or not
will define what
I am
or was.
