I've started playing guitar again after a long break and now I'm after getting a Telecaster. I don't have a very big budget though so have been surfing ebay and I have come across a couple of budget brands:

Rockburn
Shine
and the obvious - Squire

Does anyone have any info they could share on the Rockburn and Shine guitars? Squire I have read about and played a couple of times

I'm looking for a guitar that is cheap to buy and is going to hold together resonably well over time as the better I get I will replace pickups etc

I didn't realise they made a Tele, will check them out, thanks for the tip

The Classic Vibe Tele or Pinecaster is very nice if you want to buy new. The folks at TDPRI, the planet's biggest Tele forum, highly recommend it, too. A little review I wrote a while back: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/electric_guitars/squier/classic_vibe_telecaster_50s/index.html

If you're going used, play a bunch of the MIM Fenders.

Recently bought a Squier Classic Vibe Tele 50's for £209. Bought it as a cheap alternative to a baja telecaster due to a UG review. Turns out, i prefer this to any other telecaster ive played. The body's pine which is a little different. But its heavy, u can realy feel the quality in the weight. And it has a beautifully fast neck. Not bad for a telecaster on budget. Plus, looks freaking sweet in the vintage blonde xD

Ahh sorry bud. I think i heard of UK people contacting Kurt before and ended up getting one shipped to them, but if anything is wrong you cant return it. Big risk but if it shows up alright its worth it.

I actually pick up the Pinecaster more often than my MIA Highway One or MIJ Teles.

i like my squier tho
You need to audition the Classic Vibe! It's pretty amazing for the price. Out of the box, it plays very nicely ... just some minor tweaks to get it close to perfect. I'm getting compensated saddles to make the intonation perfect. Even the plastic nut is a non-issue ... I'll replace it much later.

I don't know what your budget is, but a MIM Tele would be the best "budget" Tele IMHO. (Any one 2007-current after the upgrade.)

Thanks for all the links guys

Does anyone know anything about the Rockburn or Shine Telecasters though. I'm pretty interested in these as they are readily available and seem to be good value for money

you're in the UK, right? what do you mean by "budget"?
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

Get the Classic Vibe, it's almost as good as a lot of MiA Fender Teles...

Yeah the higher end Squier's are not really bad at all, like JilaX^ said.
