Alright, so I'm looking to get a third guitar, something with single-coils to leave in G-tuning for slide. As of yet I have five options;

The first is an old 1960's Danelectro 'silvertone' that appears to be a real version of the 63' they reissued a couple months ago. This is easily going to be the best, but also the most expensive, and as I'm poor, that is bad. It's going to be at a local auction in three days, so no set price.

The second is a reissue Danelectro 63' at the same auction. Same type of guitar, I believe until recently the reissue was online.

The third is an Epiphone G-400 I saw on the local Craigslist. I'm not fully sure about this, especially since I like single-coils, but Derek Trucks, my big influence with slide and G-tuned stuff besides Keith Richards, uses a Gibson model as his main guitar, so I figure it couldn't be too bad. $300, though that includes an amp I don't need, so I could probably haggle it to $250.

The fourth is a Danelectro 56' U2 reissue, also on the local Craigslist. This is the cheapest if the 63' reissue climbs much of anything past it's starting price($130) at a small $150 that I could probably haggle to $100-$125, but at the same time it seems the lowest-quality looking at whats been said of it.

The fifth and final option is, again, the local Craigslist, in the form of an old red MIM strat for $250(*Insert usual haggling subtraction here*). This option is nice since it gives me a backup that sounds proper to my main strat, a familiar feel and shape(though I do like change), and it seems to be the highest-quality amongst them besides the vintage Danelectro.

So yeah, amongst those five, which would you guys go with as a backup and a guitar for G-tuned stuff/slide?

Personally, I like the Danelectro guitars for slide. They sound great and they are cheap as balls. (Up here at least)

Hmm...well, amongst the three Danelectros listed, which would you get?

well, if you can afford it, the original would be pretty cool to have, but it might be a bit pricey if you're only using it as a slide guitar.

The reissue isn't a bad guitar either. It'll probably last longer and take abuse better anyways.

Yeah, just look around for cool deals.

The older copy/weird vintage guitars (ala Kay, Burns etc...) make pretty cool slide guitars. They're cheap as turd too so you can buy a whole bunch and tune them weird.
