hey EG regulars! you know who you are.

to thank you for making EG the best section, the mods have decided to let you have a place to hang out and talk about guitars, gigs, gear...
-trying out new guitars, gasing for others, looking for help from guys who have gigged, band problems, installing pups...

lets see how this works.
i'll be checking the thread often and closing it if needed.

if this goes well, i'll be calling on a few EG veterans to help out.

i'm hoping to start a few clicks in EG, like we used to have in here.
get to know a few of you by name.

k, Jenny

Gigged the friday, was good fun. Bit of a quiet venue though

I've just finished cleaning and restringing and resetting two FR guitars, so I'm just jamming now. **** any kind of effort today, I have work tomorrow!

The band I manage had a live radio show, and the lead guitarist's Line 6/Bogner tube amp blew a preamp tube right before they were supposed to go on. I had to bring him my Fender Champ at the last minute, and when we dimed it in the studio it sounded AMAZING. Of course he lost all cleans and was not happy about that, but otherwise it was awesome. Then yesterday we had to sit around the tiny guitar shop for like an hour while he got the amp fixed.

^^ I'm pretty sure once a mic cable is shot, there's no reason to try to fix it. Do you have a LOT of free time on your hands or super expensive cables?

I think this is a cool idea, before is start talkin about my new guitar which im having built, you should all check out the Klon Centaur overdrive pedal, i heard a lot of differnet comments on it some say its the best, some say its not worth it, i just got mine and im running it through 2 half stacks at the same time, a mesa triple and a marshal tsl 100 and its amazing i strongly recommeng it, its awesome. And yeah im finally building m very own guitar with PRS, going over all the schematics for it right now, just have a question what do you think i should put as my custom inlay in the guitar, im very clueless on it. thanks

i tried to fix one. i think i got it working. it's like ive got 4 now. ^^^

the wires inside all start to touch after a while and cut the signal. so i was trying to insulate them better.

i got one working but i wouldnt use it out.

i know it sounds dumb but if i was getting a cusom inlay, i'd probably get my name!

probably stupid tho.

Are you going for a single or double cut?

As for inlays, just pick something you like, even if it's completely random; it's your guitar, you can do whatever you want . If you need inspiration, check out a few luthier's sites and stuff like Warmoth.com

They look pretty cool, too.

I'm a Planet Waves fan myself; I've had one for years now and despite having been run over by my desk chair a hundred times it's still working fine.

That's probably just the build quality difference between brands, not the coil style. In order to come to that conclusion, you would need to do so many different tests.

Of course, you're entitled to your own opinion, but they do make more guitars than the RG series.

They're not the pinnacle of originality, but I find most of their guitars offer excellent value for money and basswood is a perfectly fine tone wood.

Someone doesn't play bass. Ibanez should just stop making guitars and stick to making basses, and making those even better than they already are. I mean, I still prefer Fender by FAR but Ibanez is a solid brand for bass.

yeah im making a double cut , 24 fret trem, charcoal suburst front grey black on the back of the body neck and headstock, Custom 24 pick ups, 2 volume 1 tone with coil tap on tone, and a 3 way selector, Brazilian rosewood fret board, maple neck and body, mahogony face on the body, and a rose wood cap on the headstock. i was thinking of maybe doing something like the tree of life inlay like on the Vai guitars. but not sure
