Whtat exactly is a killswitch?
I've heard the term, but no explanation.

it kills the signal of your guitar to the amp... it's basically a mute button hardwired to your guitar

when you press the button, no sound comes out

this way you can strum a chord and tap the button for a choppy sound..

Also, it can be done with a pickup selector if you have a 4 pot set up like an LP. Turn one pickup all the way to 0, the other one with volume on. Then, just flip the switch to kill the sound.
