They are by no means cheap. Brand new, the halfstack costs around $1700.

Great American made amps
If you start a reply with: I have never played one but I have heard good things about it! Your opinion is invalid.

Jeff Loomis used one on This Godless Endeavor, and I believe Exodus uses them (same goes for Cannibal Corpse).
Then there's this band called Slice The Cake...

Bunch of faggots putting random riffs together and calling it "progressive" deathcore.
Stupid name.
Probably picked "for teh lulz"

Are you kidding? Triple Xs are veristile amps that many Pro musicians use, unlike your cube which is a practice/beginner amp.

The 3120 series replaced them this year... mainly due to the XXX's appearance. The halfstack costs around a grand new, so if you have that much (and can't/don't want to go used) I suggest you buy one now...

yes, it's a really good, USA-made amp. It's not a cheap knockoff by any means.

The 3120 is Peavey's newest amp. It takes two channels from the 6505 and the rhythm channel from the XXX, I think...

The 1000 Dollar half stack deal is a GC promo., most likly it will be short lived, so now is the time take advantage The deal comes with the Valveking 412 cab which sucks balls, but its a free cab, the new 3120's are going to retail for right around 1000 dollars, which is a steal concidering the Triples when for 300 dollars more new.

No not at all, its just a Triple X with a more apealing name/cometic desing. The only difference is the 3120 comes with EL34s instead of 6l6 which etheir amp can run ethier tube types anyway. EL34+Triple X=tonal bliss.

To lend a machete to your intellectual thicket:

XXX +EL34s = 3120
XXX +6L6 = Not as good as the above IMO.
JSX > XXX with 6L6s, XXX with EL34s, 3120 IMO.

for a price that compares the XXX......... you could get a used Mesa/Boogie F-30/50 or a Mesa/Boogie DC 3/5............
but if you can afford a NEW JSX you can find a used Mark IV/III/IIC+......

umm no mesa builds amps with different characteristics.....
here is how i rate mesas.
Versatility = Mark series
Bukits of ghainz = Rectifiers
Brit sounding amp= Stiletto
Cheap but good Mesa =F Series or DC Series

and i forgot your MAX budget...

So what would be the difference between a dual and triple rectifier?

A far as budget... man I have bought **** in the past trying to save a few bucks and I have regretted it. If it means spending $1500+ on a used mesa half stack I'd feel better paying that money knowing it is a good investment; rather then paying 800-900 for something I am not sure about.

the Triple has moar gain that the dual but a lot muddier in low volumes

seeing that you play alot of styles i suggest looking for a used Mesa/Boogie Mark IV(or a used JSX) if your budget is about $1500........ and its worth it.

but if you have only $900 i think you can find a Mark IV but that is unlikely, but you can find a mark III......... but i do know that you can find a Peavey XXX, Mesa/Boogie F-50 for $900 and they will definitely last you.....
